How I enjoy my life
To a child, there is no difference between pleasure and enjoyment. The developing psyche is completely immersed in the present moment. As we mature, the tracks of pleasure and enjoyment diverge. Now we confront the reality of constant change, and the impermanence of everything. Some create suffering by resisting change, while others accept change passively. Some are blessed to put themselves in the driver's seat, changing themselves and the environment around them at will.
It is so easy to get stuck in a rut pre-determined by your nature and nurture, but I like to remind myself that I am not a product of my environment, but my environment is a product of me.
I wrote previously using the metaphor of life as a book. Boredom is the result of inattention, and manifests as mindless page turning. What I'm advocating now is to stop letting everyone else fill in the pages for you.
If your life is a book, what do you want to write in this chapter?
